How To Make Youtube (or Different Video Websites) Louder

Sometimes I find a YouTube video of a conference communicate that’s simply too quiet. Even when it’s set to most extent, with Windows set to maximum extent, it’s still too quiet.

You can without difficulty restoration this with JavaScript!

First, open your internet browser’s JavaScript console. In Chrome, click at the menu button, then ‘greater equipment’, then ‘Developer Tools’ to open the developer gear.

In the Developer Tools, click on on the Console tab.

Click inside the empty white area after the > symbol. Now you can kind or paste code into the console.

Copy this code and paste it into the console.

var videoElement = record.querySelector(“video”)

var audioCtx = new AudioContext()

var source = audioCtx.createMediaElementSource(videoElement)

var gainNode = audioCtx.createGain()

gainNode.gain.fee = 2 // double the quantity

supply.join(gainNode)

gainNode.join(audioCtx.vacation spot)

It will appear to be this once you paste it in:

Press enter to send the code on your browser. The video should straight away get louder.

If you need to make it even louder, replica this line, paste it in and press enter. You can exchange the number to a better cost to make it even louder.

What just befell?

Imagine that the video was a physical object (like a smartphone), and it became related on your speakers via a cable.

We unplugged that cable and linked the video to a new item called a advantage node. Then we plugged the gain node into your audio system. Sound flows from the video to the advantage node to the speakers. The gain node has a volume dial on it, and we can adjust that dial to expand the sound.

Bookmarklet

I got an e-mail from Andrew Morton who recommended putting this code in a bookmarklet. I’ve added the bookmarklet under.

Drag this in your bookmarks bar: volume up!

Clicking on the bookmark (to your bookmarks bar) will boom the volume on whatever page you’ve got open – so you can make a YouTube video louder with a single click.
